I am just thinking that a Thunderbolt 4 with integrated 10 Gb multi-gigabit Ethernet would be less expensive? The alternative is obviously to go with a separate 10 Gigabit multi-gigabit Ethernet dongle for Thunderbolt3/4 like the Sonnet Solo10G or CalDigit Connect 10G which is not inexpensive if also have to buy a separate Thunderbolt 4 docking station, but I do understand it has no fan which is a requirement. The only Thunderbolt dock with a built-in 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports looks to be OWC dock (old Akitio dock) which only supports Thunderbolt 3 and have not gotten great reviews. Most important is a solution needs to have a 10 Gbps Ethernet copper-port with NBASE-T multi-gigabit support for auto-negotiating 10GBASE-T, 5GBASE-T, 2.5GBASE-T, and 1GBASE-T. We upgraded to NAS with 10Gb Ethernet and now refreshing our laptops and network switches for 10 Gigabit Ethernet at home so looking for a not too expensive Thunderbolt 4 docking station and 10 Gigabit Ethernet solution requirements are NBASE-T and no fans (quiet).
